Third and final stop for Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles this weekend
VICTORIA’s best U14 to U18 will travel to the Surf Coast this weekend to compete in the third and final leg of the Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles, with the State Champions being crowned at the end of the competition.
As the final leg of the series, competitors have their last chance to be selected for the Victorian Junior Surf Team.
Those selected for the team will represent Victoria in the Australian Junior Surfing Titles on North Stradbroke Island later this year.
In Girls Under 16 there is a close race for first place with Sara Hickson (Rye), Sophie Wilkinson (Shoreham) and Juliet Muscroft (Jan Juc) all in contention. Hickson and Wilkinson already have a win under their belt and will be looking to back it up.
However, Muscroft still has a first-round second place that could lead her to victory if paired with a win in this event.
The event will also feature Lucas Hickson (Rye), Dune Pruvot (Torquay), Remy Roberts (Barwon Heads) and Sarah Seuren (Inverloch) who will be looking to put on a great performance in the final event of the series.
“It will be exciting to see how the competitors perform under pressure as they need these results to count for their series campaign,” said Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.
“There are some very tight splits with multiple surfers vying for state champion which will be interesting to watch unfold for the duration of the competition.”
The first call for the event will be at 7.30am for an 8.00am start in Jan Juc on Saturday.
