Red Wings-Ducks postpone hours before scheduled game

Anaheim has placed center Sam Carrick, goalie John Gibson, defenseman Hampus Lindholm and right winger Vinni Lettieri in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols.
The Red Wings are also set to play against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night and end their trip Tuesday night in San Jose.
The Montreal Canadiens have extended their break from team activities as the club continues to deal with a COVID-19 outbreak. The Canadiens said Thursday that the NHL team and its American Hockey League affiliate the Laval Rocket will not return to the ice until practice resumes Sunday. Twenty-two Canadiens players and two coaches are in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. Montreal suspended the team’s activities following a 5-2 loss to Florida on Saturday.
Also on Thursday, the Winnipeg Jets put forward Jansen Harkins, defenseman Dylan DeMelo, goaltender Arvid Holm and video coach Matt Prefontaine in the protocols. The Jets were scheduled to play in Colorado on Thursday night. Winnipeg also placed David Gustafsson in the casualty reserve and activated forward Cole Perfetti from the taxi team. Perfetti was a member of Team Canada at the recent World Junior Hockey Championship in Alberta which was canceled due to COVID-19.
In Vancouver, Canucks right winger Alex Chiasson tested positive for COVID-19. Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau said Chiasson was taken out of training Thursday due to the test result, but was not placed on COVID-19 protocols. Five other Canucks players are currently on the COVID-10 list. Vancouver will host Ottawa on Saturday night.
