The High River Flyers of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League open their training camp this weekend.
New head coach Bruce Perrins says that considering the team didn’t play last season, he’s starting from scratch.
“To be honest it’s really a whole new start, we don’t know how many players we’re going to have at camp right now, but we do know there are a lot of Junior A camps going on the same weekend. end and there will be people coming back after that, ”he said.
The players were released to play for other teams when the Flyers suspended operations last season and Perrins doesn’t expect them to be back.
“There is a couple who play Okotoks and they will probably stay there and so at the moment we don’t think there is anyone coming to play here.”
The camp takes place at the Cardel Arena at the south end of Calgary as the Rec-Plex ice is not quite ready.
Perrins was happy to see all of the kids coming to the equipment swap at Rec-Plex and how excited they were to start the season.
