Charlize Theron & Niki Caro Team Up For Netflix’s Big Wave Surf Drama

Washington [US], May 26 (ANI): Oscar-winning actor Charlize Theron and award-winning filmmaker Niki Caro have teamed up for a film about ‘Women’s Struggle for Equality in Big Wave Surfing’ for Netflix.
Variety reported that the film will be based on a former New York Times Magazine article by Daniel Duane, “ The Struggle for Gender Equality in One of Earth’s Most Dangerous Sports, ” and the four surfers professionals – Bianca Valenti, Andrea Moller, Paige Alms, Keala Kennelly, who fights for the right to participate in big wave competitions.
The four women make an incredible connection as they surf risky spots including California’s Maverick’s and Maui’s Jaws, while fighting for their rights to join male-dominated competitions.
Caro will don the director’s hat and will also produce the film from a script adapted by Becky Johnston.
Theron, AJ Dix and Beth Kono for Denver and Delilah will also serve as executive producers for the feature, according to Variety.
Apart from this film, Caro also directs the action thriller “The Mother”, an adaptation of the novel by Isabella Maldonado “The Cipher”. “The Mother” will play Jennifer Lopez in the lead role.
While Theron, who has produced various drama series in addition to starring in several films as a lead, will next be seen in Netflix’s “ Atomic Blonde 2, ” a 2017 action-thriller film sequel to the same. (ANI)
